1.2.   Observers in a ToP will be limited to Lance Leaders or higher, and then only with permission of the Chief Evaluator, or as ordered by the Brigade Commander

1.3.   The Trial will be conducted with one Candidate against three Evaluators.

1.4.   One of these Evaluators MUST be ranked Captain or higher, AND be designated by the Command Staff as having the authority to conduct the Trial. (Chief Evaluator)

1.5.   The other two Evaluators may be of any Rank higher that the candidate is testing for, and will join in the Trial at the request of the Chief Evaluator. However these pilots must be pre-approved by the Command Staff for participation in Trials of Position.

1.6.   These Evaluators shall confront the Candidate on a LOCKED, DEDICATED MW 4 Server.

1.7.   WAR server should try to be used during the trial; however a third party server set up by an observer may be used if necessary. If no observer is available, then the Chief Evaluator will host or delegate the hosting duty to another Evaluator.

1.8.   Server settings

·        Game Type = Team Destruction

·        Map = BrokenSky/Defiance/Highlands/Frostbite/Hogsback/Equinox/Polar Tundra/Genesis (Chief Evaluator decided)

·        Stock Mechs Only = OFF

·        Join in Progress = ON

1.11. The Candidate will meet each evaluator (1 life per evaluator)

1.12. The Candidate shall undertake the Trial in a custom variant of his/her choice as dictated by his/her current rank:

·        Heavy – 60 ton to 75 ton

·        Assault – 80 ton and up

1.14.If ping time for any individual exceeds a stable 350ms another host will be used, and the trial will be restarted. Alternatively different evaluators may be assigned.

1.15.Preferably, but not mandatory, the ToP will be scheduled at least 48 hours in advance.  This allows for the verification of eligibility and scheduling among Evaluators.

1.16.Regardless of the lead-time in scheduling, the Chief Evaluator is responsible for verifying candidate’s ToP eligibility.

2.      ToP Procedure: COLD DROP

2.1.  Prior to the drop, the Senior Evaluator will ensure that everyone participating in the ToP will have voice communications turned OFF for the remainder of the trial.

2.2.  Upon launching the Server, the Candidate and the Evaluators will remain in their Spawn Points for several moments (DZ1 for Cadet and DZ 2 for Evaluators), until all members have made it in to the game.

2.3.  The Chief Evaluator (or host if designated by the Chief Evaluator) will then request “Ready Status” from all participants.

2.4.  Participants will respond with either “Ready” or “Not Ready - Reason”

2.5.  Observers will observe --this is a formal trial and will be treated as such.

2.6.  Once all participants are confirmed “In Game – Ready” the trial will begin.

2.7.  The Chief Evaluator will give the Candidate and the first Evaluator (Light Mech) the order “Weapons Hot – Begin Trial/Engage”

2.8.  The Candidate and, the Evaluator piloting the Light Mech will immediately leave the general area of their DZ and begin the first phase of the trial.

2.9.  At no time will either warrior re-enter the now “off limits” area of DZ1 or DZ2 (400m bubble around each DZ).  The candidate is warned that any encroachment into the “off limits” area,, or the engagement of ANY of the other Evaluators inside the “off limits” area, will immediately result in disqualification of the candidate and require the ToP must be rescheduled.  In the event an Evaluator violates an “off limits” boundary, the trial will be halted with a “procedural kill” being awarded to the candidate and that Evaluator will return to the spawn as an observer for the remainder of the trial.

**Special Note: The use of the area immediately behind the DZs to the edge of the map, although technically not inside the “off limits” area, is to be discouraged**

2.10.Should the Candidate be defeated, he/she will respawn and hold at the spawn. At the same time the Chief Evaluator will call “Weapons Cold” and command the Medium Evaluator to begin a return towards their spawn point. The Chief Evaluator may or may not command a complete return to the spawn, however the assurance of at least 1000m of separation must exist between combatants prior to the re-issuance of a “cleared Hot – Engage” call.

2.11.Should the Light Evaluator be defeated, he/she will respawn and observe from that point forward. At the same time the Chief Evaluator will call “Weapons Cold” and command the Candidate to begin a return towards their spawn point. The Chief Evaluator may or may not command a complete return to the spawn, however the assurance of at least 1000m of separation must exist between combatants prior to the re-issuance of a “cleared Hot – Engage” call.

2.12.The trial will continue, repeating steps 2.7 through 2.11 with the remaining evaluators in Heavy and Assault mech chassis.

2.13.The trial will be completed upon the second death of the candidate or the death of the third evaluator.

3.      Awarding Of Rank:

3.1.   A rank of Master Sergeant is the highest rank that may be awarded in a ToP

3.2.  The Command Staff will officially award rank based on the ToP results, so ensure that the final screenshot provided via email.  The candidate’s final score will be based on the sum total deaths of all opponent deaths, and not by a Candidates total number of kills.  Total opponent deaths will determine rank increase as follows:

·        0 points = None

·        1 points = Promoted one rank

·        2 points = Promoted up to two ranks (see 3.1)

·        3 points = Promoted up to three ranks (see 3.1)

3.3.  At the discretion of the Command Staff, a superior ToP score of 3 points may result in the Candidate being invited to a special ToR or direct promotion.
